Reading Rangers wraps up for the school year.

It  hardly seems possible but our time spent at Precious Blood & St. Joseph school has wrapped up for the school year.

The ladies that went every month to read and do a craft with preschoolers will miss those smiling faces. The children greeted us with the Reading Rangers sign and oh so very cute smiles. We then recited a decade of the Rosary & said The Pledge of Allegiance . The preschoolers then hand picked which one of us they wanted to love on that day. Many times it was because they knew we were new or maybe somehow they knew we needed their unconditional love  that day.  We read 9 books to them and they added those to their home libraries. As we read they may have told us a little bit about themselves, families or friends They may have commented on our pretty nails or asked where we had been if we were missing last month. Whatever conversation happened during the reading of the book it made us smile and stop to ponder the innocence of a child . We then proceeded to do a simple craft pertaining to the book. Each craft was proudly displayed to all of the members as they finished and placed in their cubbies to take home with their new book.

The books we read this year were:

Little Blue Truck    Alice Schertle

Shake Dem Halloween Bones    Nikola-Lisa

Where's the Green Sheep    Judy Horacek & Mem Fox

Who is Coming to Our House    Joseph Slate

Snowmen at Night    Caralyn Buehner

If You Give a Dog a Donut    Laura Numeroff

Click Clack Moo   Doreen Cronin

Pete the Cat : I Love My White Shoes   Eric Litwin

Corduroy   Don Freeman

I highly recommend to any of our members who are thinking of joining this committee to jump in. Some of us are only able  to do a couple times during the school year but it is so worth the time. It takes so very little of your time . In doing it i think we as members were getting so much more than the children. For me it        often brought joy to the start of my day.
